A line from SalsSky: The Chosen One
Do you always answer uncertainty with steel?
On reaching for armor when you feel unsure
The tension has just broken open. A moment ago, the air was tight with the threat of violence. Now a stranger stands before Sals, calm and unhurried, and she asks him something quiet and direct. She is not accusing him. She is noticing him. She sees that he reached for a blade when things felt uncertain. She wants to know if that is habit.
It is a fair thing to notice in someone. It is a fair thing to notice in yourself.
Most of us do not carry steel. But we carry something. A sharp word. A wall. A sudden need to be busy or right or somewhere else. When life feels unclear, it is easy to reach for the thing that makes you feel solid. The reaching is not weakness. It is very human. But it is worth pausing to ask what you are actually holding, and whether it is helping you meet the moment or only keeping it at a distance.
What do you tend to reach for when uncertainty arrives?
Pass it on
