A line from SalsSky: The Chosen One
This one got kept by everyone who showed up the morning after, without being asked to.
On the people who show up without being asked
The night has been long. Something broke, or bent, or wore everyone down. Then morning comes to the harbor, quiet and soft. And people are already there. Nobody called them. Nobody made a list. They simply came. The line notices something that is easy to miss in hard moments: some things hold together not because one person carries them, but because many people, quietly, decide to return. That kind of loyalty does not announce itself. It just appears with the light. You may have been one of those people for someone else without realizing it. You may have also been the one who woke to find others already present. Both matter. There is something worth sitting with in the difference between being summoned and choosing to show up. One is duty. The other is something closer to love. Think of a time someone appeared for you before you thought to ask. What did that presence tell you about them, and perhaps about yourself?
