A line from SalsSky: The Chosen One
Toward whatever’s still standing once distraction stops working.
On what remains when distraction runs out
It is late in the scene. The city is quieting. Sals, Luis, and Arbi stand at a railing above sleeping streets, and the conversation has moved past comfort into something more open. Arbi is not pointing anyone anywhere. He is simply naming what he has noticed: that distraction is not permanent, and that when it finally loses its grip, something is still there. The line does not say that thing is good or bad. It only says it is standing.
Most of us keep ourselves busy on purpose. Not out of laziness, but because stillness can feel like a risk. Distraction works, for a while. It smooths over the questions we are not ready to ask. But there are moments, usually quiet ones, when it stops working. The noise fades. And whatever you have been circling comes into view.
You do not have to go looking for it. It is already oriented toward you.
What do you think you would find, if the distraction stopped today?
Pass it on
