A line from SalsSky: The Chosen One
It reached past his skin, into bone, and something in his chest loosened that he hadn't known was still clenched.
On the quiet that finds what you held closed
It is early morning. Sals stands at the rail, face toward the light, not asking anything of the day. The night has passed. He is simply there, letting warmth move through him at its own pace. And then something shifts. Not because he tried to shift it. Because he stopped holding against it. The line notices what the body carries without telling us. A tightness so old it became ordinary. So ordinary he had stopped feeling it as tightness at all. The warmth did not fix anything. It only made room. The fall was still there beneath the calm, like a bruise you forgot you had. But for a breath, something opened.
You know this too. There are things you have held for so long that the holding feels like just the shape of you. You stopped noticing the effort. Sometimes a moment of quiet, plain and unhurried, finds the place you forgot was closed.
What have you been gripping that you no longer remember you are gripping?
Pass it on
